For more than 50 years, Findlay Automotive Group has been entrenched in Southern Nevada. Since the 1950s when company founder Pete Findlay journeyed from Panaca to operate Pete’s Used Cars on Boulder Highway, the group has focused on giving back to the community.

Among charities, special events or other community causes, the Findlay name can be found at almost every venue. Whether it’s Cashman Field, Thomas &Mack Center, South Point Arena and Equestrian Center or other venues, the name Findlay is found throughout Southern Nevada

“It all goes back to Pete,” Las Vegas 51s Chief Operating Officer Don Logan said. “We had an alliance with Findlay Olds back in the day and that has carried over to (Findlay sons) Cliff and Eddie.”

Since a Findlay Automotive growth spurt that all started with the addition of Saturn in 1990, community involvement has increased with the growth.

Nowadays, executives such as Logan and Steve Stallworth of South Point Arena and Equestrian Center team up with Findlay leaders to promote the community while raising awareness for charitable events.

“What makes this so neat is that Findlay is a family-owned company,” said Logan Stallworth, a native of Tonopah who has been with the 51s since the team’s inception in 1983. “They also have dealerships in other cities now, too, and there will always be community involvement no matter where the company does business.”

During any baseball game at Cashman Field, the Findlay name can be found on billboards in right-center field where Findlay Toyota, Findlay Kia and Findlay Chevrolet are prominently displayed. Not far away in the right field corner are other billboards purchased by Findlay Honda Northwest and Findlay Volkswagen North.

In the front of Cashman Field are Findlay vehicles that remain on display throughout the year.

“Their involvement in the community is the reason why Findlay Automotive is so successful,” Stallworth said. “It’s not phony. It’s all sincere.”

Stallworth, a UNLV football quarterback more than 30 years ago, is equally as a strong with his praise.

“I came to this community in 1982 and since that time I can’t think of a company or family that has been more involved in the community — especially the sports community — than the Findlay family and related companies,” Stallworth said. “Their involvement with UNLV athletics is certainly well-documented, but I don’t think a lot of people know how much they have helped the smaller sports organizations such as the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame to survive and prosper.

“I’m very proud, humbled and honored that during my professional sports and venue career, which started in 1990, that Cliff Findlay, Rich Abajian, Tyler Corder and Coach Rick Glenn have sponsored every venue or team that I have been associated with—and I’ve been associated with a lot of them over the past 25 years.”

Findlay’s contributions to charities are numerous and include the Las Vegas Heart Walk/Run, Links for Leukemia golf tournament and the Light the Night Walk for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society along with the Goodie Two Shoes Foundation that gives shoes to needy students.

Also, Findlay Automotive Group is a strong supporter of 8 News Now’s Community Pride program which salutes various elements of need in the Southern Nevada. Formed in 1987, 8 News Now has donated an estimated $30 million through in-kind media financial donations and physical goods.

Findlay Automotive Group is headed by Pete Findlay’s son, Cliff, who oversees automobile dealerships in Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Idaho. For more information, visit www.findlayauto.com.
